                                                            TESTIMONIALS

I first met Mary Lawler at MacDowell Montessori School in 2017. She was my daughter’s teacher for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I was so impressed by her that I specifically requested Mary for my son Max. He has dyslexia so Mary also tutors him. She is able to adapt her teaching style to meet his individual needs. She’s patient and compassionate but also challenges Max which has been a huge confidence booster. I think that’s been key to Max’s amazing progress. Mary is one of a kind and after you meet her you’ll see for yourself how passionate and dedicated she is to education and to the success of her students. Mary genuinely cares about my son and is helping him reach his full potential. Thank you so much Mary!

                                                            TESTIMONIALS

My two daughters were behind in school and I had problems getting help.  I heard Ms. Mary has a tutoring business, so I reached out to her.  I knew I wanted her to work with my girls because she had three of my older children; Tony Jones, James Billingsley, and Octavius Billingsley while she was a teacher at MacDowell. They loved her.  She was wonderful with my children.

My 1st grader had problems with her letters, she did know all the sounds and she would get mixed up with letters, which made it very difficult for her to read.  She also had problems with math.  She got her numbers mixed up, had problems counting, and didn’t understand the number patterns.  With these problems, she could not add or subtract and do basic math.  Ms. Mary taught/tutored her and now she can add, subtract, count, recognize her numbers and more.  She used to dislike reading but now, she likes it because she can read.  She also loves math.

My 4th grader also had a hard time with reading and math.  Now she is a better reader and she can do and understand math much more.  Now that she can read better, she likes to read out loud to me.

Ms. Mary was very focused on them, working one on one, and understands what it is that they need. She’s a wonderful teacher as well as a wonderful person. I recommend her to anyone looking for someone to teach their child/children. She’s the best person to do it.  She’s very patient with kids and has materials that can really help them because she uses hands-on materials and gives ideas on how to help at home, so I could help them as well. She is open with her schedule which I love. My girls love her and my boys love her. Since my girls have been tutored, worked with Ms. Mary, they catch on to things so much faster.  They are doing so much better now.  I appreciate Ms. Mary so much.

                                                            TESTIMONIALS

Ms. Mary Lawler is a wonderful teacher who can reach and teach just about any child in her classroom.  My son was a student of hers for three years of Montessori schooling from the fourth grade through sixth grade, and the benefit of having Ms. Mary as a teacher cannot be overstated.  My son is a notoriously slow starter who needs time to blossom, as his grades reflect just that in school.  Having Ms. Mary as a teacher for three years was more of a gift for my son and our family than I can express in a letter.  Her patience and proficiency in teaching were so beneficial for my son that I can say that if he never had Ms. Mary as a teacher, he would not be in any kind of position for academic success come middle school.  My son is now a freshman in high school, and still talks about how great of a teacher Ms. Mary is.  Over the course of the three years in her classroom, my son grew from a work-hesitant first year student into a confident third year student who could complete just about any work given to him.  The growth he experienced in her classroom was essential in his preparation for middle and high school, and I believe would not have been nearly as profound as it could have been had he no had Ms. Mary as a teacher.

According to my son, Ms. Mary “taught each student like they were one of her own kids” and always had time for that individual instruction which is essential for student growth.  But we can’t get compassion confused with being soft.  Ms. Mary had expectations and a knack for getting that little extra out of each kid, and that could never have been achieved if she were too easy on her students.  This combination of compassion and high expectations coupled with  an aptitude for getting the best from each child makes Ms. Mary Lawler one of the best and most effective teachers I have ever been involved with.  I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for an alternative educational experience that would quickly and forever benefit any child in her classroom.
